Political Science Degree Positions Future Attorney for Career Success

EKU Online Political Science Student Allie Maples

“These are skills I will be able to apply to law school courses and my future career as an attorney,” said Allie Maples, a political science student from Mount Sterling, Kentucky.

Allie received the General Lloyd Political Science Award in Spring 2016 in recognition of outstanding scholarship in political science, contributions to the program, and high potential for future excellence.

As an on-campus student, Allie is a member of the EKU Honors program and captain of the university’s nationally-ranked mock trial team. She’s also been named the American Mock Trial Association All-Region and All-State attorney.

She feels well-prepared for her future. “My political science courses have taught me the importance of strategic planning and thinking critically,” she said.

The EKU Online political science program gives students the unique opportunity to earn the same degree, from the same instructors with no required campus visits.

When asked if she had any advice for students in the EKU Online political science program, Allie replied, “I would encourage students to not be afraid to ask questions and utilize your professors as a resource. Professors in our program are approachable and knowledgeable about topics across the discipline.”
